Will Aura Colors Appear Soon?

Q: Hi! First of all, I want to thank you so much for providing this website.

I'm eighteen years old and started meditating properly a little over a month ago, and now I meditate about an hour every day.

Very soon after I began my meditation, I started seeing "transparent" lights around people. At first I was unsure whether my eyes were playing tricks on me, but they gradually grew stronger, and now I'm fairly certain the lights and sensations I can see/feel are not illusions.

Yesterday during group meditation I saw a cloud of purple over one of the meditators - my question is, is it common to start seeing colors and feeling others' emotions as you practice reading auras? How should I protect myself from getting overwhelmed by these sights/feelings?

I've also been getting headaches around certain people - a couple of friends of mine and my father, to mention a few. Do you think this might be a coincidence, or am I picking up something from them?

According to the internet, I've been opening my third eye - I've been getting headaches and comfortable tickling sensations in my forehead, the top of my head, the back of my head, and at the bottom end of my neck.

Eva's Response: Woah. Meditating an hour a day? When you only started a month ago? The headaches indicate that you are becoming too sensitive too quickly. You need to cut back on the meditation. The absolute max you should be doing, as a beginner, is 10 minutes, twice a day.

If you meditate too much, too soon, you raise your vibrations to a high frequency very quickly and your physical body will react. This is the headaches and uncomfortable feeling. You could also find yourself becoming more anxious and generally uncomfortable in everyday life.

You also need to protect yourself when meditating in groups. Imagine yourself bathed in pure white light and forming a protective shell around you. This is to protect you, and the people you are meditating with.

So, my basic advice is to cut the meditation to 10 minute sessions, twice a day at most, and only do the group sessions once a week. Also drink plenty of water, as water is very grounding.

Yes, you will begin to feel others' emotions as you continue your journey.

You have now opened your brow chakra, so your journey has begun and you will continue to learn and develop and grow. You need to protect your mental and physical health in the meantime.
