Third Eye and Weird Visions and Flashes

Q: Hello! First of all, I'd like to commend you on your wonderful site and thank you for taking the time to answer my question.
I have been having weird flashes and seeing things with memorable colors for a few years now.
When I was walking behind this one man one day, I suddenly got a "vision," for lack of a better term, of a dark place with a large city building.
From the building, green strobe lights were flashing out of all the windows. When I was in the car with my brother, I suddenly got an image of a dim school hall like in a horror movie (but not frightening, just the lighting was very similar) and there was a vending machine that was emitting neon green and blue lights.
I often see colors or the lighting is different when I wake up with ASP (Awareness during Sleep Paralysis).
A few days ago, the color everywhere was a sort of clay color. When this happened, I also had an OBE, and I wasn't scared at all, like I usually am.
One time, there was weird pink and purple swirls everywhere around me. I don't know if this has anything to do with auras, but it's a strange observation regardless.
Well, to get back to the point, I often have weird, erratic visions and feelings when I look at some people, usually men (who can be either strangers or people I've known for a long time), that can be like a spark of electricity (or lightening), a calm, peaceful feeling, a dark setting, a place filled with azure light, etc.
I don't know why this happens, maybe it's an aura, maybe it's just what I think of when I look at the person.
About the dream...there was this one dream that crept me out madly when I was a little kid. I had been watching Veggie Tales (don't laugh, haha, I was a little girl) during the day, and when I went to bed I dreamed that Bob the tomato and Larry shut there eyes like they always do, but a third eye opened on Bob's face. I don't know why this crept me out so much, it just did, and thus I remembered it. I had never seen anything like that before, no pictures of Hindu gods or strange paintings, so I was a little weirded out.
Do you think this has anything to do with divine enlightenment or something, or was it probably just a random dream?
Um, if this helps at all, my mother used to be able to communicate telepathically (but she stopped "messing with the supernatural").
I've also heard voices in my head at random times and had very strange things happen to me. For example, I often have ASP when I wake up without interruption and have woken up from weird sounds generated within my own mind since I can remember as well as feeling strange forces behind me at various times during the day and hearing singing when I close my eyes.
Ah, I never used to believe in ESP, auras or anything out of the ordinary, but now I'm kind of on a hunt for the truth.
Thank you very much for reading my question as well as creating such a great, informative site! =] I'd prefer to remain anonymous, I hope you don't mind.
Eva's Response: Thank you for your kind words :)
And thank you for your amazing letter. I understand why you would want to make sense of it all!
I believe there are several things going on. I think the visions with the bright lighting are likely from a past life. My rough guess is WW2 London, during the Blitz. During this time there was a mandate that all windows had to be blacked out, all street lamps extinguished etc, after the sun went down. There were spotlights that went up into the air, looking for enemy aircraft. Also, the school hall with the neon vending machine is consistent with underground public shelters that were used for evacuations during this time.
Most of the time, we come into our current life 'pure' and with no memories whatsoever of our past lives. However, if we died due to trauma, we do tend to carry some of that trauma forward in our energy bodies (the aura).
The sparks and colors, mostly around men - you are most likely seeing the aura. Our auras exchange energy all the time and we never even realize it.
Now it's time to talk about what's going on in your sleep. I think there's two things happening. The first is physical. You are waking up during your 'Rapid Eye Movement" phase of sleep. This is the deepest phase of sleep, and your body can't keep up. Look into any distractions in your sleeping area which might be causing you to wake up during your deepest sleep. The weird sounds and voices might not be coming from your brain at all.
Secondly, when we sleep, our souls travel to the astral realm while our physical bodies recover and rejuvenate. If your brain waves are going from REM to awake, it's possible that you're 'dropping out' of the astral realm very quickly as well. This would account for the out-of-body feelings you've been having.
It's so important to get a good nights rest. Affirm "I sleep peacefully" each night before you go to bed. And when you wake up, affirm "I am awake and present."
It is also important to ground yourself: Sit on the side of your bed with your feet flat on the ground and imagine tree roots growing out of the soles of your feet and into the ground.
You said your mother stopped "messing with the supernatural" and I am sure there's a very interesting story there! There have been times on my own journey when I've needed to pull back and just rest from it for a while. Somehow, I'm always called back though :)
My advice: enjoy the ride. You will have phases in your life of a lot of spiritual development, and other phases that are quiet. Don't rush headlong into anything too heavy (such as trance channeling) or dangerous (such as messing with ouija boards). Talk to your mother, I think she will have some interesting stories to share.
Hope that helps!
PS - I think the dream about the tomato was the universe's way of letting a kid know that there is a spiritual side to life. I'm sure it wasn't meant to be scary!
