Headaches:

Muscular tension:
In fact, muscle tension as a result of anxiety can become so intense, painful and uncomfortable that it may need you to revert to progressive muscle relaxation (PMR) techniques. A PMR technique involves tensing the muscle and then relaxing it, so you can feel how to control and relax your muscles.

Changes in sleeping patterns:
This is another major symptom. The inability to sleep (insomnia) can trigger a dangerous vicious cycle that may have adverse effects on your social, mental and physical health. Sleeping pills should be avoided as they do not provide a long-term fix. You should set out to resolve the underlying anxiety problem as opposed to only dealing with symptom.

Difficulty in breathing:
This is more so if your anxiety levels rise suddenly. The shortness of breath can be accompanied by dizziness. If this happens when you are in a crowded place, look for an open area or space where you can catch your breath easily and also away from the attention that your condition might attract. Take deep breaths and you will start to relax. Of all the symptoms anxiety causes, this is one of the few where your dealing with the symptom also allows you to simultaneously deal with the underlying cause.

Chest pain:
Frequent and sharp chest pains can be an indication of a heart problem and must be taken seriously. However, if you experience mild or irregular chest discomfort then you do not have to be overly alarmed as it could simply be an anxiety symptom.
