Seeing Colorful Shadows
Hi,
First of all I would like to say BIG Thanks you for making this website and for your wonderful help that you giving to all of us.
My 7 year old son said to me a week ago that he is seeing shadow of everything. When I asked him what colour is the shadow? He replied its colourful. I ask him what shape is the shadow? He say it depend what I see, when I see an object it exactly that object's shadow and it's very colourful.
I ask him how long you been seeing these? He said since I was 3yr old. He said I keep seeing them all the time and it bothers me too much, I can't concentrate in anything I am doing and I don't like it. I want to see everything normal. He said my mind does not like to see this colour and I don't know how to stop this.
The strange thing is he don't see the colours around the object but just in the shadow. So to test i show him my hand shadow and ask him what colours can you see in it? He said my arm is pink, palm is green, my thumb is yellow, second finger is gold, than blue, silver and purpel. But he said every time he blink he see different colours. Does our aura keep changing colours all the time? or is it something else.
He is having problems in the night as well. He said sometime he wake up in the night and he see colourful shadow around his bedroom and he does not like it. He said I want some one to sleep with me, I don't like to sleep on my own. So shall I keep light on in the night so he don't see any shadow?
He said when he imagine things in his mind he see colourful shadow in it as well. He also see it if he imagine numbers or anything in the mind.
When I ask him, can you see colour in your own shadow? he said no. Only my shadow is normal all other is colourful. What does this mean? If it's something else how can he see his shadow normal? I really want to help him, i am really worried about him? I am not sure weather he see colours are the aura or something else? Can aura be seen in shadow of person and object? Does all the object have aura? Please reply to my questions and a big thanks in advance.
Eva's Response: I'll answer your question with 3 options of what this could be:
Option A: Many children have very active imaginations. By active, I mean they believe their own stories, which can lead to scary experiences when their imaginations 'run away on them'.
Option B: There is a disorder called synesthesia where people perceive music and letters as colors. It's harmless, but people with this condition do sometimes complain that it is distracting. Begin with your doctor to explore this path and he or she will likely recommend a cognitive therapist.
Option C: Your son may indeed be seeing auras. Sensitive children are often scared of the dark. Tell him to imagine himself in a bubble of pure white light of protection. He can extend this white light out so it fills the entire room. That should take care of the night issue. Ask him to try not to focus on the colorful shadows and focus more on the object instead. This comes down to the old adage, "if you ignore it, it will go away". I believe if he gently ignores the colors, over time (say, a period of a few months) the colors will become less distracting, less bright, and they will slowly fade away.
I hope that helps.
Sending love and light to your baby!
