Physical Symptoms of Anxiety Attacks and Related Chakras

It’s important to know the physical symptoms of anxiety attacks, and be able to tell the difference between physical symptoms of anxiety and what is more serious.

The symptoms you will experience depend on your anxiety disorder history, your type of anxiety disorder and how confident you feel that you can stop anxiety when it comes upon you. This article will also look at which parts of the aura are affected when you are having an anxiety attack.

Quickened breathing – Heart Chakra:
Related to the heart chakra, and associated with loving. Problems breathing IN means you have problems with loving yourself. Problems breathing out means that you have issues loving others.

Quickened heart rate – Heart Chakra:
A very common physical symptoms of anxiety attacks. Processing a lot of emotions at the one time. Not a lot you can do but sit down, focus on your breathing and allow it to pass.

Hot flash – Reproductive Chakra:
“Why is this happening to me?! Why am I not in control of my body?!” You feel that you can’t obtain what you need – as a result, you store up all the energy around you (obtaining everything) and then this energy gets pent up and needs to release via a hot flash. When you have a hot flash, turn your thoughts to letting go of this energy that you don’t need.

Shaking hands – Heart Chakra & Solar Plexus:
One of the most obvious and most annoying physical symptoms of anxiety attacks. Hands are for DOING. Feeling like you are unable to DO anything during an anxiety attack. Just allow your hands to shake, and know that you CAN do something – like focus on your breathing – during an anxiety attack.

Dizziness – Crown Chakra:
Your thinking is going round and round in circles. Once the dizziness passes, take a deep breath and imagine unnecessary thoughts disappearing out through your feet and into the earth. While you are doing this, you will automatically open your crown chakra to allow new, clear, inspirational thoughts to come into your mind.

Feeling unable to breathe – Heart Chakra:
You feel like you are playing by someone else’s rules. Once the anxiety attack is finished, remind yourself that you are going to overcome anxiety on your own terms. Being allowed to do it your own way is the key.

Sleeplessness, or restless sleep – Crown Chakra:
You aren’t allowing your body to regroup, rest and heal. Instead of putting your energy into trying to sleep, try listening to a guided meditation mp3 or CD. If the thoughts of whatever was keeping you awake pop up as you try to meditate, imagine them being encased in a bubble and released to the universe. Just watch them float away – where they go to isn’t your problem, just let the universe do its job. Just take your thoughts away from sleep and let it sneak up on you. Once you have slept long enough to dream, this is an excellent step forward. It is in your dreams that you open your crown chakra and divine inspiration can enter your subconscious.

Headache – Brow Chakra:
Otherwise known as a tension headache, and caused by fatigued muscles that spasm and cause pain. If this headache appears in the back of the head, it’s to do with inner communication and self-acceptance. That voice ‘in the back of your mind’ needs to be accepting and loving. If this headache appears towards the front of your head, it’s to do with outer communication and accepting others. Be “open-minded” and forgive others.

Exhaustion or tiredness – Brow Chakra:
This often comes from trying to fight the anxiety. This physical symptoms of anxiety attacks affects third-eye chakra and impacts intuition. Many find that this physical symptoms of anxiety attacks comes on after the initial panic, and stays even though you may not feel anxious anymore. Even though you are exhausted, and just want to sleep, take a few moments each day to make note of all you have learned. Then, with your intention on your soul’s purpose, write down just one or two things that you plan to achieve the next day.

“Butterflies” in the stomach, nausea, vomiting – Solar plexus Chakra:
The Solar Plexus is the central energy point of your body and the place where you get your motivation and personal power. This sick feeling is caused by all the above symptoms and energies expressing in your energy center and churning away. By vomiting you are saying “I want to get rid of these emotions!”… however this isn’t the way to do it. If you feel the urge to vomit, stay calm. Try to relax your tummy. This may actually trigger your vomit reflex, which is ok – over time you will get used to relaxing your tummy when you feel sick and the vomit reflex won’t be as hyper anymore.

It’s important that if you experience any of the above physical symptoms of anxiety attacks for a prolonged period of time (say, any longer than 6 hours in a row), it is important to see a licensed medical professional. They may just give you a diagnosis of “anxiety” but it’s always better to be safe. 6 hours is a guide - you know your own body and what's right for you, so use common sense.

Just a note, if your medical professional makes you feel silly for coming to them with new symptoms, or makes you feel like you are taking up too much of their valuable time, it’s time to find another physician. Repeat anxiety which overtakes your ability to function is a medical disorder, and like all medical disorders it requires treatment and time.
