My 14-year-old is Seeing Auras and Having Visions

Q: My daughter is worried she is schizophrenic. She has been seeing auras she describes as fuzzy colors in shapes like triangles, circles, or blurs emanating from the head of people.
She also has elaborate visions of the future. For example detailed visions of her best friend and her friends' future husband, visions of what will happen in my future and her siblings' future. She can distinguish these from dreams. She does not hear voices.
I am trying to find someone for her to talk with to reassure her that she is not crazy. A traditional psychologist may scare her. Any guidance would be helpful.
Eva's Response: I was taken to a psychiatrist when I started seeing auras and was diagnosed with anxiety disorder.
Seeing a psychiatrist was the best thing I could have done. There was no medication forced on me, and for the first time I could speak to a person who actually understood me. The psych couldn't explain the auras, so referred me to a neurologist.
The neurologist couldn't explain the auras, but his "wife believed in energies, so that was good enough for him".
I was also taken to see a priest during this process. So I know for sure I'm not crazy, diseased or possessed, LOL.
But back to your daughter. She needs to be seen by someone who has a psych background, but is open to the possibility that she may be having premonitions. If you Google "holistic psychotherapist miami" you will see a whole list of people who have a medical background but combine this with respect for the mind/body/soul connection.
Best of luck with your daughter, I hope she finds peace of mind soon.
