Colour blind and auras ?

Q: My 5 year old was confirmed as color blind this week, we had been pretty certain before but the optician confirmed it.
Today he asked why Daddy was so green. When I asked about it he said that I was a paler green but Daddy was darker. I asked what color he and his little sister were and he said he couldn't describe the color really.
I asked about his friends and he said some were black and brown. I don't think he'd call a dark-skinned person black, he'd call them brown, but since he is color blind he might well lose part of the color spectrum.
I want to know if he is seeing auras or if it is something else. I mean, why would he say me and his Dad were different shades of green? It doesn't make sense.
Eva's Response: To be honest, I don't know. You might want to ask your opthamologist what colors your son is likely to see.
I do know that kids using colors to describe people is fairly common. I get asked at least one question a week about this.
The faculty used to see auras is different to the visual seeing faculty. The best way I can describe is that you perceive an image from what your eyes pick up, then the aura appears as part of that image, but it comes from your third eye/intuition. So it would be reasonable for your son to see color this way.
There is also a phenomenon where people perceive sound as color. They will hear music and see beautiful rainbows of light. This is called synesthesia.
My advice: Ask your opthamologist what spectrum of color your child is likely to see (grays and browns aren't out of the question), then just relax and don't worry about him seeing 'colors' too much. If he is seeing auras and the ability sticks around, he will be able to explain it to you clearly one day.
