What is the Cause of Social Anxiety Disorder?

It’s hard to pinpoint only one cause of social anxiety disorder, because every person is unique. In most cases a person with social anxiety will have many stress signs and symptoms as well as panic attacks causes.

How to overcome social anxiety is the main aim of social anxiety treatment, and in most cases finding the cause is extremely important, when getting help for panic attacks, to manage anxiety stress symptoms.

Medical professionals have worked diligently in order to uncover the cause of social anxiety disorder. Many medical professionals refer to this condition as social phobia. People who have this particular mental health disorder have an unreasonable and even an excessive degree of fear about social situations. The fear that grasps the emotions of people who suffer from this health condition often results in many uncomfortable symptoms. It is common for a sufferer to experience moderate to severe anxiety, as well as an unreasonable degree of self-consciousness. The sufferer often feels as if they are being watched closely, that other individuals in social situations are judging them, or that they will be criticized by those present in social situations.

The cause of social anxiety disorder has been researched for several years by scientists, doctors, neurologists, and those that work in psychology and psychiatry. Unfortunately, no one cause has been identified. There are many factors that could play a vital role in the onset of this mental disorder. Mental health professionals have established the fact that this condition is relatively complex and that many factors could actually result in an individual developing this anxiety disorder. One of the theories pertaining to the cause of social anxiety disorder is that genetics plays a large role in whether or not someone will develop this condition.

Many theorists believe that the cause of social anxiety disorder is an imbalance of the chemicals in the central nervous system. The central nervous system consists of the brain as well as the spinal cord. It has been established that various types of neurotransmitters within the brain have a direct impact on the moods and anxiety level a person experiences. The three neurotransmitters that have been identified as having a direct impact on a person's perceptions, thoughts, and emotions are serotonin, Gamma-aminobutyric acid, and norepinephrine. If there is a chemical imbalance among these neurotransmitters, it is quite likely that a person may experience fears that are directly related to social situations.

Many people may experience social anxiety disorder because of negative memories or even traumatic experiences. There are many situations that could occur in a person's life that has such an intense impact that they make every attempt to avoid situations where other people are located. If you suffer from this condition, you may fear that you could make a mistake that will be observed by others, or you will experience a form of embarrassment among others. It is not common for a person with this condition to have distorted thoughts, altered perceptions, and experience challenges when it comes to focusing and completing tasks that occur from one day to another.

If you or someone that you know suffers from social anxiety disorder, it is quite likely that anxiety attacks or panic attacks may be experienced. Despite the fact that there is no single cause for social anxiety disorder, there are many different types of treatments available for those that suffer from this condition. Many may benefit from cognitive behavior therapy, counseling, prescription medications for anxiety, and herbal supplements. While uncovering the cause of social anxiety disorder is considered to be important among sufferers, treating the condition should be the main area of concern.
