Bergamot Essential Oil
With a spicy scent, bergamot is a popular citrus essential oil.
The oil is extracted from the skin of the small, yellow fruit of the same name. Emotional benefits include a calming, enlivening feeling. To uplift your mood, put some fresh clean water into a diffuser, add a few drops of this oil along with some lavender oil (if you're feeling floral) or sandalwood (if you're feeling woodsy). In a few minutes the wonderful aroma will fill the room. This oil is also useful for skin conditions such as relief for cold sores and chicken pox. Add drop or two to some water and apply directly to the skin. It can also be added to bath water to soothe an all-over skin complaint. Warning: Always, always, always dilute this essential oil if you're applying it directly to the skin. This oil is photosensitive, meaning it will bleach anything it comes in contact with if exposed to the sun.
