Considered Anxiety Self Help when Dealing with Emotional Stress?

Is anxiety self help more attractive than reaching for a bottle of stress relief pills? Dealing with anxiety can cloud your judgment and magic ‘anxiety cures’ appear to tempt you almost everywhere.

But if you want it badly enough, self help for anxiety is possible. If you are prepared to do the work that it takes when coping with panic attacks, you can stop anxiety forever.

It is quite normal for us to feel anxious, stressed out, and tense, occasionally - especially when we are worried about someone else. Apart from that people can be called "chronic worriers" because they find it completely impossible to relax.

Nearly anything can be a cause to set off an anxiety attack, like unpaid bills, possible laying off from a job, bad health in the family, or any other reason. So if you find yourself in such a situation, looking at negative points rather than the positive points in your life, it is possible that you are a victim of chronic anxiety. So instead of worrying about being anxious about something, you might try anxiety self help programs.

People who are overly anxious are under the impression that they do not have control over their lives and things are getting out of hand. This feeling of helplessness makes them feel even more helpless and thus the anxiety attack becomes a vicious circle.

So, here are some factors to consider before you look at any anxiety self help programs and tips:

1. What is the major cause of your anxiety? Once you get to pinpoint it, you can manage to deal with it. If a thing is blown out of all proportion, it is going to act like a monster, to scare you. Once you believe that you are in control, there is nothing at all, which can worry you. Remember that a little bit of anxiety is normal; however, when you start feeling anxious about every single little thing, and that worry begins to encroach on your enjoyment of everyday life, because you do not manage to overcome every supposed crisis, that is the time when you need to look for anxiety self-help.

2. Your job is to control your anxiety attacks. The moment they start taking over your life, you need to get back into control. Getting to know all about your stress factors is one way to deal with it. Apart from that, you would want to learn one word, "no." Once you learn how to say no, you are going to find it easier to manage your stress. A large number of stressful situations occur in the office or at home, because you intend to please everybody and take on more than you can chew. This is definitely what you are not aiming for. Say "no" once a while and relax.

3. Cognitive therapy is also a really good way in which anxiety self-help programs can help cure you of your anxiety attacks and really systematic manner. The late Dr Claire Weekes was an amazing expert in cognitive therapy. She wrote several incredible books, but the one I found the most helpful was

Hope and Help For Your Nerves. Even though some doctors use medication along with cognitive therapy, Dr Weekes advocates getting to know more about the cognition, feelings, and behaviors which may trigger off an anxiety attack. Once you are in control of your anxiety, you are on your way to leading a normal fully functional and constructive life. Trust me on this one… Dr Weekes’ books are my survival guide to life with anxiety disorder. I credit her with my recovery. She gave me the recovery blueprint, paving the way for anxiety self help. I then used the tools she provided in her books.

Believe me – if I can recover from anxiety and lead a normal, happy life, you can too. I spent many years as a nervous wreck, but not anymore. So get rid of these anxiety attacks right away with the tips given above!
