The Number One Anxiety Disorder Symptom

By far the most common anxiety disorder symptom is worry. Worry can be one of the first signs of anxiety, and can range from general uneasiness to sheer terror – one of the worst symptoms of anxiety attacks.

Worry is one of the worst mental anxiety disorder symptoms, but can have an impact on a person’s life by manifesting physical symptoms of anxiety, if left untreated.

Anxiety can have many symptoms but the most commonly reported and dreaded symptom is worry. Worrying is the one thing that we do when we think that something is going to go wrong or a situation doesn't feel right. It's a part of our natural mental makeup and when functioning properly can keep us from doing some really stupid things. When suffering from mental problems however worry becomes less of a friend and more of an enemy.

The reason this anxiety disorder symptom is dreaded more so than the rest is that it can lead to many others and it can also complicated your life. Take the little things that happen to you on a daily basis. Yes these little things go wrong and impede our progress throughout the day but a normal human being takes it in stride and doesn't let them ruin their day. When worrying excessively those little things that normally wouldn't bother us become intense problems.

You worry about eating and drinking foods that might stain your clothing. You worry about family members excessively; you worry about personal injury, meeting your bills on time, work, and any other subject that you can think of. Taking note of these things in normal levels is fine. Being concerned about a family member reminds us to stay in touch while being reminded of our bills ensures we spend our money wisely. But thinking about them excessively is not healthy nor is it very productive.

This single anxiety disorder symptom can begin to branch out into other areas if left unattended. If you let your mind worry too much for too long eventually emotions such as dread and general terror begin to emerge. The type of terror that can come from this is one of the worst that a human being can experience. It's not directed at any specific thing, it simply is there and you don't know why.

This anxiety disorder symptom has been closely associated with feelings of the walls closing in, paranoia over people being out to get you, fear of random things happening to you, and other fears or worries you may have. It can quickly escalate into full fledged anxiety attacks which then can develop into panic attacks. Remember that anxiety attacks and panic attacks are two different things.

An anxiety attack is an attack of overwhelming anxiety. It doesn't cripple you but you feel anxious about the situation you're currently in overall. Panic attacks can cause you to enter a near hysterical state of mind if they are severe enough and you allow them to take hold. Both of these can be traced back to dread, anxiety, and finally worry.

More severe mental issues can follow if you let your worries and concerns turn into needless terror. Fighting anxiety can be tough and there are many resources available offline and online to help you. Remember though that if you find yourself getting into this state of mind to try to talk to a friend or loved one before you start to get worse.

While worry is the most common anxiety disorder symptom it can lead to many of the other symptoms related to the problem. Worrying can be the root of anxiety and terror which means that you should not worry about things that you cannot control. It can be difficult sometimes to overcome with the problem but by being vigilant and never giving in you can beat it.
